Church Prayers of Intercession

Prayers for use in Church 31 October All Saints

Praying Together This Week

This week we celebrate the saints who have gone before us and whose example we look to for inspiration in our own lives. We pray:

1. With thanksgiving for the example of the saints who shape our lives today through our churches, through stories of their courage and faith, and through their writings and teaching.

2. With thanksgiving for the courage and faith of our Patron Saint,         St. Mark; for his discipleship and for the spreading of the Gospel.

3. For those modern-day saints that we see showing God’s love through works of charity, self-sacrifice, humility and love in our world today;

4. For all those working in areas of desperate need, caring for the sick and dying and giving their own lives in service.

5. For ourselves as we bring our concerns for our world and others along with our own needs to our Lord, that we may join with the whole company of saints in prayer and praise.

Jesus Christ is the light of the World, a light which no darkness can quench.  We remember before God those who have died and light a candle to symbolise the light of Christ which eternally shines and brings hope.  We remember today

May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace and rise in glory

You turn our darkness into light in your light shall we see light

Merciful Father
Accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ,
Amen

The Lords Prayer

Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, they will be done, on earth as it is in heaven

Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory for ever and ever. Amen
